Rapid Dominance also known as Shock and Awe, is a military doctrine that aims to achieve a swift and overwhelming victory over an adversary by using a combination of overwhelming force and the element of surprise. It was first developed by the United States military in the late 1990s as a response to the changing nature of warfare in the post-Cold War era.

The concept of Rapid Dominance is based on the idea that the use of overwhelming force can paralyze an enemy's decision-making process and break their will to fight. This is achieved by using a combination of:

advanced technology

precision-guided weapons

and psychological operations

to create a sense of shock and awe among the enemy forces.

The Rapid Dominance doctrine was first put into practice during the 2003 invasion of Iraq, where the US military used a combination of:

 ground forces

and special operations 

to quickly overthrow Saddam Hussein's regime. However, critics argue that the doctrine has its limitations and can lead to unintended consequences such as civilian casualties and long-term instability.
